Reason for it? That is the big unknown currently and probably everybody would be interested in. It could be that Bitcoin is getting more attraction also within mainstream medias and hence gains in popularity. Although rumors on various sites go more in the direction that Bitcoin acceptance is rising, as further countries intend to regulate digital currencies.
